Commissioned to Govern the Earth

We are in a new time of history, not just in our own nation, but globally. While we, in many places, have been comfortable in our routine of life, we can no longer do that. We must each step up and take ownership of what has been given us from God – we have been given the power of the Spirit for such a time as this.

The earth is reeling beneath the corruption of wickedness. The soul of our society needs healing and soundness. People need peace and hope. They need the government of God. Scripture says the earth groans for the manifestation of God through His sons and daughters…that means every one who is born of God’s Spirit.

God is now “reforming” how His people not only see Him, but how they see themselves.  He is changing how we operate, taking us from poverty assumptions to palace mindsets. Salvation in Christ is the conversion from darkness to light, from slavery to reigning. Being born of God means we are born into a royal family of kings and priests who connect earth with heaven’ supply (Rev. 1:6). The “greater works” that Jesus spoke of wasn’t just for the early church, but are for now: signs, wonders, healings, and miracles – through His body….through you and me.  It’s time for divine exploits!

From the beginning we were put here to govern: To rule and reign, oversee and administrate with the authority of His love, truth and wisdom. As a born-again new creation in Christ, you carry His government in the earth – for your life, family, community and nation.

Jesus said to His disciples, “You are the light of the world…you are the salt of the earth.” (Matt. 5:13-14; Eph. 5:8) Jesus walked from town to town carrying the knowledge of God’s presence and power everywhere He went. He taught His disciples to do the same. This is our model. (Luke 4:43; Luke 9:1-6; Acts. 8:5; 16:4). We may not go from city to city, but we may go from Kroger to CVS, from our work place to the mall…encountering people everywhere we go who need hope and healing.

If we are not anchored in who God is and who we are in Him, Satan will present us with a false identity of both God and ourselves. As the saying goes, “If you don’t know who you are, you’ll be anybody; if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there. It’s time to know who we are and the purpose of God for our life. There are lives depending on us having that intimate knowledge.

Governing isn’t about superiority, but about serving. It doesn’t come automatically, but it is in our DNA and the more we exercise it, the more mature in it we become. Jesus taught His disciples to govern by receiving and releasing the power of the Spirit.

To govern means we must develop heaven’s attitude toward life and circumstances. God’s attitudes are winning attitudes! We are not victimswe are rulers. The mindset of a ruler is one of a champion. It is one of endurance, vision, focus, a staying power, and tenacity. We must focus on the prize, not the problem. Life has adversities, but God has strategies. Life has nightmares, but God gives dreams – learn to focus on those and seek His supply. On any battlefield there are unexpected challenges and dangers hurled at you moment by moment. Be a person of fortitude and vision because that’s who Jesus is in you.

Your leadership is important! Look around you. See what happens when there is no righteous leadership. Righteous leaders steward what God has given them – they bring His presence and strategies into every situation. You are God’s leadership whether you are a housewife, truck driver or CEO. Look at Adam & Eve, they were gardeners!

God has a vision that all the earth be filled with the knowledge of His glory. That glory is the manifestation of His transcendent majesty and presence – the Sovereign Light that destroys the works of darkness and heals the land. That Light dwells in you! Let it shine.
